About Locksmith Whitby
A mobile locksmith working Whitby and Durham Region twenty-four hours a day — residential, commercial, automotive and emergency, with the price quoted before we drive.

Who we are
A Mobile Locksmith, Not A Dispatch Number
There is no shop counter to drive to. The workshop is in the van, and the van comes to you.
That arrangement is not a compromise; for this trade it is the right one. Almost everything we do happens at a door or a vehicle — picking a lock, cutting and programming a key, repositioning a strike, fitting an exit device, reinforcing a frame. Carrying the workshop to the job means most of it finishes in a single visit.
We work the same handful of towns every week: Whitby, Brooklin, Port Whitby, Taunton, Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, Courtice, Bowmanville and Port Perry. That is a deliberate limit. It is what lets us quote a job over the phone with enough accuracy that the invoice matches, and give an arrival window that turns out to be true.
It also means we are answerable. A locksmith who works one region is going to meet the same customers, the same property managers and the same neighbours again. A subcontractor dispatched from an hour away by a company you will never speak to twice is not, and that difference explains most of the bad stories people tell about this trade.
The phone is answered by somebody who does the work, not by a call centre reading from a script.
How we work
Six Things We Do The Same Way Every Time
Quote Before We Drive
A real number for the actual job, stated on the phone and honoured at the door. No callout fee arriving separately.
Ask For Identification
Proof the property or vehicle is yours, every single time. It is the reason this service cannot easily be turned against you.
Open Without Damage
Picking and bypassing on ordinary residential hardware. Drilling is a last resort, explained and priced before it happens.
Stop And Re-Quote
If the job on site is different from the description, work stops and you approve the new price before we continue.
Leave The Door Working
Latching, locking and closing properly — not just open. A lockout that ends with a door you must shoulder is not finished.
Say When You Do Not Need Us
If the back door is open or a neighbour has a key, that is what you will hear on the phone, for free.

What we do
Four Trades, One Phone Number
Residential. Lockouts, move-in rekeys, deadbolt upgrades, smart locks, key cutting, and the door and frame repair that most sticking doors actually need.
Commercial. Storefront and exit hardware, closers, master key systems, access control and fire-code compliant back doors for businesses across Durham Region.
Automotive. Transponder keys, remotes and proximity fobs cut and programmed at the vehicle, including all-keys-lost generated from the VIN.
Emergency. The other three at an inconvenient hour, twenty-four hours a day including weekends and holidays, with the applicable rate stated before dispatch.
What we believe
The Advice That Earns Us The Least
The single most valuable thing we do on a house costs almost nothing: replacing the three-quarter-inch screws in every exterior strike plate with three-inch ones that reach the stud behind the frame.
It matters more than the brand on the lock. A forced door almost never fails at the lock — it fails at the frame, where the strike plate tears out of trim that was never anchored to anything structural. The bolt is usually found extended and undamaged in a hole that no longer has anything around it.
The second is that a door which needs lifting, shoving or pulling before it locks has a frame problem, not a lock problem. Open the door and work the lock with nothing to bind against. If it is smooth that way and stiff when closed, the lock is innocent and a fifteen-minute adjustment fixes it.
The third is that rekeying beats replacing for a house that has just changed hands. It stops every old key working for a fraction of the cost, and new hardware solves nothing that rekeying does not.
None of those three make us much money. They are still the right advice, and saying so is why people call us back.

How We Price
Every job is quoted on the phone before we drive, and the number does not change on your doorstep. Rates differ by time of day and you are told which band applies before agreeing to anything.
There is no callout fee stacked on the job price, and no minimum revealed once the door is already open.
Rekeying is per cylinder with the rate falling as the count rises. Car keys are priced by what the vehicle needs. Door and frame repair is quoted once we have seen it, because guessing would only mean revising it in front of you.
